Basting in Sunlight
The sun is warm on my back, neck and shoulders, as
I sit with pups, cats and rat in my Son's media room.
Off on an adventure, he and his love are visiting her
sister and husband down south, in Mission Viejo.
Sipping a tall, Americano with light soy and stevia,
I attend to their loving, menagerie of critters.
Accepting the offer to help them out, I am
gifted with this retreat from my own reality.
Several good movies, the Olympics and
internet aside, I follow my instincts outside.
Observing treetops dancing in the breeze,
I smile, as black pup, Cleo circles pool.
White and rust spotted pup, Link, is staring
at one of his pet rocks, now under water.
Avoiding obsession, I respond to pleading
eyes, roll up my sleeve and rescue rock.
A lone dove coos, as a plane circles, gains
speed after take off, then disappears into blue.
Peace is still, until leaf blower, table saw and
weed eater join forces, assaulting my senses.
Cradling Angel Messenger Cards and purple
journal, I surrender ground, take shelter inside.
journal, I surrender ground, take shelter inside.
Hungry Rat is making her self know, by clawing
at her large cage, but once bitten, forever shy.
After a last dip in the hot tub, my time here,
finds a natural completion. "What goes around,
comes around, full circle says the golden eyes of
black cat, basking in sunlight. Parakeet chirps.
Retrieving my things, I close the door to
the boys room, under the watchful eyes of
Luke Sky Walker and Sponge Bob, who
now waves farewell atop a pile of pillows.
Reclaiming my energy, I offer a prayer
for my Grandsons, Son and his Mate,
" Divine Creator, bless, protect and inspire
these four awesome, caring, humorous,
talented, Souls, always...in all-ways. "
talented, Souls, always...in all-ways. "
Text alert, " We are almost home!"

Pennies from Heaven
"Pennies from Heaven" are speaking to me today...
Three so far, catch my attention, one shiny, two dull.
They appear magically, in obscure spaces, as if from
nowhere, along with whispers from the other side.
I feel the presence of my father and hear the voice
of my first love, saying, "Happy Valentine's Day"!
Sitting in the hot tub, while house-sitting for my Son
and his Love, I am enchanted by the reflections of trees
and birds appearing like magic, in a garage door window.
The swimming pool is still, clear as a scrying mirror.
I am transported into other worlds out of time,
until a pacing dog, drops a rock at my feet.
Eyes now open, my awareness shifts to
admire the yellow of a blooming daffodil.
A metal bucket with the word "Friendship"
on it, is half filled with weeds, not yet ready
to surrender their last, live, breath of green.
My Spirit is lucid, serene, calm and resting.
An approaching plane is rendered invisible
like the joy of loving Souls, now departed.
Songbirds are calling forth rain, as I retreat
inside, to prepare to meet a Spirit Sister
for lunch at a local Mexican Restaurant.
Re-acclimating to my Son's environment,
I offer gratitude for this retreat, this small
wrinkle in time away from my daily reality.
In this animated world, with cats chasing dogs,
rats stalking cats, and birds greeting the sun, my
heart finds rest and healing, inspiring a smile.

Meditating at the river,
my breathing expands,
heightening my senses.
I am aware of the birds,
singing Valentine Songs,
as they mate and then nest.
The river's fullness flows,
abundantly since the rain,
carving out it's own story.
Returning home renewed,
I follow my instincts and
hang my laundry to dry.
After juicing organic veggies,
I savor the natural medicine of
stir-fry and warm banana bread.
Gathering laundry off the line,
my heart sings a Valentine Song
of Gratitude for friends and family.
Buzzing bees and screeching hawks
inspire tulip, almond and acacia trees,
to burst open into blooming colors.
As valley air clarifies from rain,
my creative impulses quicken in
anticipation of returning to Spring.
